The beginnings of renovation is demolition

September 5, 2014 by travelingsole

There were four 30 yard dumpsters worth of junk we hauled out of that house. It included all the drywall, insulation, 4 unused chimneys, walls, floors, old slats, rat carcasses, old toilets and much more. I can say we only because I did help with demo for a few days. It barely counts but I got dirty a few times.

The roof was rotting so we took off the back of the house down to block. We built a new wall on top of the block. It gave us the opportunity to raise the ceiling 10 inches and a steeper roof.

After – the lady on the roof was part of the roofing crew.

After- no gutters or siding yet… that will happen in October

What a great opportunity! 🙂 I know from helping a few brothers with old houses that what you are doing is a lot of work and often very YUCKY work. But I’m pretty sure it will be worth it! Keep posting photos. 🙂
